My home page is not updating after I "Build my Website"

#1

Post by snystrom » Wed Mar 29, 2017 9:21 am

After I build my website and it goes through the whole deal of updating the website it brings me to the home page and I see it updated. However, if I go on another computer the homepage is not updated. It's like it stuck on the previous update. Then, When I click on the reports the page updates and shows the correct info but it's the initial homepage attached to the link of the website that is stuck. Does that make sense? I don't know why that would be happening...

What do you have for your FTP manager settings?

Specifically under the "Prompt" section at the top?

Do you have a backup of your *.tt file??? If not save a 2nd copy somewhere other than your computer, use a flash drive or something, don't wait do it now!! Do it any time you make a change or import new entries.

I have the Always prompt FTP- should it be "Always Use FTP"?

either of those will work, but when you have it set your way it should ask you after the Build Web Site if you want to FTP (upload) the files. Are you choosing Yes for that?

If you don't want to think about it change ti to "Always use FTP" and it will FTP (upload) them automatically.

I switched the FTP prompt and rebuilt the website but that didn't change it. Again, it comes up for me updated but when I checked on my other computer and my phone it still gives me a past screen homepage. So when people go to the homepage the Top 10 listed are wrong unless they go into the reports and click on current standings- then the webpage updates itself. Should I try editing some text and see if that shows up?

Can you post a screen shot of your FTP manager settings.
And are you getting any error messages when it tries to upload, does it fault out?
Can you also post a screen show of the "Build Web Site" window before you hit OK to start the process.

Under the FTP file in your screen shot under the "Applies To" you have all the boxed checked. Mine only has the "web Site files" and "Deploy via Web"
Should the "web report files" be checked?

The checks you have should be enough to get it to upload at least the main page.

As for posting screen shots there is a "gallery" section on this board that you can save pictures too, then provide the links to that of you screen shots.
gallery/index.php

To do a screen shot when the image is on your screen you can hold down the <alt-print screen> buttons and then let go. You can then paste that image to something like a word document and just upload that as a file. Or if you can paste it in to an image program then you can use the gallery.

i am not sure if i will be online much more tonight, so hopefully someone else can try and assist further if needed. It seems you have something either bypassed or set wrong somewhere.

Ok. It just seems weird because I havent touched any settings since updating. I will try and upload the photos so you can see what it looks like. In the mean time,
Is there a way I can email my whole pool letting them know that the main page is wrong but the current standing link is correct?
How do I do a mass email through tt?

I apologize- I can't seem to figure out how to get my image on this page. It is saved in the gallery and I copy and pasted the link here....Both images are saved under snystrom (first 2 images) on the gallery page if you can see them.
To answer your previous question... I am not receiving any error messages when I build my site.

gallery/image.php?album_id=2&image_id=45

OK when you do the "Build Web Site" there is a drop down in the upper left for "Home Page" right now it is set to index, try and change that to either "home" or "default" and rerun it.

I am seeing your files, but I have to put in this link:
http://www.mysideline.com/u/23418/colle ... /index.htm

So the files are uploading it is just that the link is not pointing to the updated home page.

I might be off on those options, but I think that it should be one of them.

Let us know.

Hooray! It worked. I tried it on "home" and that didn't work but the "default" did the trick!
Thanks so much for your help on that.
One more thing.... is there a way to send out a mass email to all the people who are in the pool so when it's over I can send out a message to everyone about who won, etc.
I can't figure how to do that.
Thanks.

Yes, go to "Remote" along the top and there are a few options:

I think you can use General Email for what you want.
But if that doesn't work because it isn't configured, then just export the email addresses and you can do it that way too.
